cowboy lasagna

Well, this got rave reviews. Ed went bonkers for this. Lasagna is a loose term for this meal, it's more like a casserole. But since lasagna is such fun, we'll keep calling it that. Cowboy lasagna for my wannabe cowboy.
Cowboys love beef, so beef begins this meal. Ground beef with some onions as well.
This lasagna is made with corn, tomato sauce and various spices to make it hearty and delicious. Key among them is worchestershire sauce for that zip and zing and tang.
You can always use tater tots for this, but these tater patties really make it seem like a lasagna.
Bottom layer of the pan is the tater patties.
Ground beef mixture right on top of that.
Top it all off with plenty of cheese and pop into the oven.
See that cheese on top? It's not burnt. It is crispy and golden and like a perfect lasagna top. Slice just like a lasagna and you will love love love this. It's now part of our regular rotation.
Cowboy Lasagna
Hello, and thank you Peppermint Mocha.
1 lb lean ground beef
1 small onion, minced
1 14 oz can tomato sauce
1 14 oz can corn, drained
1 Tablespoon dried mustard
1/2 Tablespoon onion powder
1/2 Tablespoon garlic powder
1 Tablespoon worchestershire sauce
2 cups shredded cheese, cheddar or monterey jack
1 package tater patties
Salt and pepper

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. In a large saute pan, brown ground beef until no longer pink. Season with salt, pepper, dried mustard, onion powder, garlic powder and worchestershire sauce. Stir in corn, tomato sauce and minced onion as well. Remove from heat. In a greased 9x13 baking dish, layer the tater patties, meat mixture and cheese. Bake in the oven for 30-35 minutes or until the cheese on top is crispy and golden. Serve hot and enjoy!
