banana split frosty paws

Chocolate is bad for dogs. That's no secret. Every year, thousands of dogs are hospitalized from getting into Easter or Christmas candy. Chocolate contains theobromine, a chemical that is dangerous to lots of mammals, but not humans (thankfully). It's always the best bet for a pet owner to not let their fur babies have any people food without being completely and utterly sure that the ingredients aren't harmful for their pets. And I can guarantee you that these Banana Split Frosty Paws are completely puppy dog safe!
So, how do you make Banana Split Frosty Paws without chocolate? Well, with carob of course! Carob (a.k.a. Ceratonia siliqua) is a legume that is naturally sweet and is often used with people foods as a chocolate substitute. It's packed with vitamins like A, B, B1, B2, B3, B6, D, Calcium, Iron, Magnesium, Potassium, Manganese and lots of protein, too. Lot of people use carob powder to help relieve diarrhea, getting rid of colds and helping to relieve osteoporosis because it absorbs calcium so well. Sounds perfect! So, then all you need is strawberry yogurt, bananas and that's it!
Spoon into the silicone trays, and into the freezer they go.
This is the hard part. For the puppies at least. Waiting for the frosty paws to be done. Nora... seriously. That can't be comfortable.
These may be their favorite yet!
Banana Split Frosty Paws
1/4 cup carob chips
2 very ripe bananas
24 ounces fat free strawberry yogurt

In a mixing bowl, combine all of the above ingredients. Spoon the puree into ice cube trays until just full. Tap trays on the counter to remove any air bubbles and to smooth out the surface. Put trays into the ice box and freeze for several hours or until completely set. Keep frozen until time to enjoy!
