bacon peanut butter doggie birthday cake

As many of you know, Radar had his 5th Birthday this past Saturday. We celebrated by spending time together, having some small presents of treats and a toy, and I made doggie friendly birthday cakes for all 3 pups to enjoy. I made him a cake for his 1st birthday, and have made the other dogs special dinners for their birthday, so I just did a rendition of that first cake I made for this time.
This cake couldn't be easier, and you can add or delete extra ingredients as you go. Radar loves carrots and what dog doesn't love bacon?
I went to Target looking for a bundt cake pan or a pie dish to cook this in, but found these 3 miniature spring form pans and they couldn't have been more perfect! One for each pup!
Cook the cakes until they are just soft in the middle- you don't want them to get too hard because they will definetly firm up as they cool.
Remember to allow your cake to cool completely before frosting. The icing is beyond dog friendly- just yogurt and peanut butter. I've honestly thought about using this recipe for cakes and cookies myself. I used fat free honey almond yogurt for this recipe, and I've used fat free banana in the past.
I dunked the icing of the cakes into leftover bacon bits, just as an extra treat. Real bacon isn't great for dogs, but it's something that happens just once a year so it's a special treat. And Radar didn't mind one bit!
Bacon Peanut Butter Doggie Birthday Cake
1 cup whole wheat flour
1 cup shredded carrots
1/4 cup bacon bits
1/4 cup vegetable oil
1/4 cup peanut butter
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 egg

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Combine all dry ingredients in a large bowl. Combine dry ingredients with oil, peanut butter, vanilla, egg, carrots and bacon. Mix until combined. Pour mixture into greased pan of choice. Bake in preheated oven for 40 minutes, or until middle of cake is set. Let cool in pan for 10 minutes and then on a wire rack until completely cook. Ice cake only when completely cool. Enjoy!

Peanut Butter Yogurt Doggie Icing

1/4 cup peanut butter
