about us

Ed and I met in 2009 at a bar. I know, a bar. Fortunately, our meeting had nothing to do with being drunk and silly and everything to do with being introduced by a mutual friend. We were both completing Master's Degrees at Shippensburg University of Pennsylvania and working as graduate assistants. I wooed him with my woodsy but liberal nature and he wooed me with his mid-western bravado and charm. The deal was sealed, however, after Radar accepted him as a surrogate father. More than that, Radar started liking him better than me, so then what was I to do? We moved in together, adopted Link from a local shelter and moved to Cleveland. That didn't last long. Believe me, after shoveling a 30 foot driveway covered in 2 feet of snow while ice and sleet penetrate 2 layers of Under Armour, you start thinking about warmer shores.
So we moved. We had visited Savannah after we had both graduated, and we talked about that historic city often. When we finally decided to move somewhere else, Savannah seemed to be the only logical place. We both took positions managing retail stores and found our niche in town. Nora came along not too much later, and our family seems complete for now.
So here we are, getting ready to embark on a new chapter in our lives. I started this blog not only to share our lives together but also to document the memories we create. I hope you enjoy reading it as much as I enjoy creating it.
Ed was born in Willowick, Ohio, a suburb of his beloved Cleveland. He was raised by his mother, Pam, along with his older brother Matt and older sister, Becky. He attended Kent State University and Shippensburg University before we met in 2009. I was born in Williamsport, Pennsylvania and was raised in nearby Montoursville. Raised by my parents, Kris and Kim, I have two younger siblings, Marshall and Katie. I attended Bloomsburg University and Shippensburg University. Ed loves sports, eating and movies. I enjoy cooking, watching sports with Ed and reading. We got engaged in January 2013.
Radar is a curious little fellow who I adopted in 2008, just after graduating from college. Radar seems to be everyone's favorite corgi. As a puppy, he was beyond rambunctious and crazy, but he's calmed down in the last few years. But, that's not to say that he doesn't get downright nutty when he's playing with Ed or his brother and sister. Put a toy in his mouth, and you'll have a hard time getting it away from him- that is unless he decides he wants you to throw it. He's absolutely adorable, loves to play fetch and tug of war, and cuddle with his daddy. Radar does NOT like shrimp, cats and having his teeth brushed.
Link is a complex dude we adopted in Pennsylvania. I was given a free DNA test for canines and we discovered that Link is a multitude of breeds! He's part Basset Hound, Mini Poodle, Samoyed, Dauschund, Cocker Spaniel and Shi Tsu. As you can guess, he's got some trust issues, but once you get to know him, you couldn't ask for a more affectionate guy! Link loves to lay between Ed's legs, bark at cats and play with new toys. Link DOESN'T like getting baths, tall men and the vacuum.
Nora, a.k.a. Nora Jones, was brought into the pet supply store that I worked at by a woman who had found her running around the Southside of town. She was covered in scabs and was dirtier than all get-up, but the woman couldn't keep her. I'm a sucker for a cute face, and she fooled me into thinking at she was a calm creature. Ed fell hook, line and sinker for her little mug and although we initially agreed to foster her, that didn't last long. After she pooped in Ed' car, she became a permanent member of our family. Her wounds have healed, and she's DEFINETLY not calm, but we love the ba-jebus out of her. Nora loves to eat (anything), play tug with Radar and snuggle with her mamma. Nora does NOT like people walking past her house, the mailman and birds.
